IPL Skin Rejuvenation

IPL Skin Rejuvenation process assists with unwanted pigmented skin, helps firm the skin and reduces pore size, resulting in more even-toned and brighter-looking skin.

Here’s how it works:

  • IPL, or Intense Pulse Light, machines use a beam of light that is made up of a spectrum of different light wavelengths, like the rainbow, that goes from the colour blue to green to yellow. IPL uses different wavelengths to treat different skin conditions.
  • The light is transmitted through a small, smooth, flat glass hand piece which is gently placed over the skin.
  • During the treatment, the chosen IPL wavelength is absorbed by the skin, stimulating fibroblasts (cells in connective tissue that produce collagen and other fibres).
  • This new collagen production and cell regeneration in turn rejuvenates the skin.

IPL Skin Rejuvenation Treatments are suitable for skin types 1–3 (not dark skin)and are a non-invasive way to revitalise ageing, sun-damaged or acne-affected skin.

Some clients describe the experience as uncomfortable but not painful. You will experience a sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band on the skin, each time the IPL hand piece is applied. The treated skin will experience sensitivity, redness and immediate warmth after treatment.

To maximise the benefits of IPL Skin Rejuvenation, we recommend a course of 4 – 6 treatments, conducted at 4-week intervals.

Downtime

There’s minimal downtime and side effects with IPL Rejuvenation, however some clients may experience minimal swelling and may feel slightly sunburnt straight after the treatment. Any pigmentation will immediately darken and a crust will begin to form. Your skin’s natural exfoliation process will take care of the rest. The treated skin can be itchy, and it’s important not to scratch it.

Aftercare

No exercise for 24 hours post-treatment. Avoid sun exposure for 7 days. No exfoliation for 7 days. No further heat treatments for 4 weeks. Sunscreen must be applied daily.
